EPS Bucket List
Below is a graphical illustration and list of types of buckets from the EHS website.
BSF: Yellow or Red Biohazardous Waste Buckets

- Yellow and Red buckets are NOT interchangeable. Ensure you use the correct bucket for waste
- When a bucket in the BSF is full:
- Email bsf@utoronto.ca to let the BSF Director know the bucket is full
- Don appropriate personal protective equipment
- If using a yellow bucket, tie the inner bag
- Close the lid of the bucket
- Wipe down the outside of the bucket with an appropriate disinfectant for the required contact time
- Bring the full bucket to Room 33E
- If available, pick up a new bucket and bring it back to the appropriate room
- Email bsf@utoronto to let the BSF staff know that the bucket is full, that you placed it in Room 33E, and that you picked up a new bucket (if applicable)
Lab: Yellow or Red Biohazardous Waste Buckets

- Yellow and Red buckets are NOT interchangeable
- When the bucket or bucket with bag is full:
- Don appropriate personal protective equipment
- If there is an inner bag, tie the inner bag closed
- Close the lid of the bucket
- Wipe down the outside of the bucket with an appropriate disinfectant for the required contact time
- Bring the full bucket to the designated spot in the lab
- Contact EPS and arrange a pick-up
- Inform them of how many full buckets you have to be picked up
- If needed, ask them to bring replacement buckets and/or bucket liners
