In the event of an injury of incident. (1) Get medical attention. (2) Report incident to supervisor or lab manager or staff. (3) File Injury/Incident e-Form within 24 hours.
Responsibilities:
Supervisor/Lab Manager: The laboratory supervisor or manager is responsible for ensuring that all activities are conducted safely and in compliance with relevant regulations and guidelines including:
- Conducting regular safety inspections and risk assessments
- Establishing emergency response protocols
- Recording incidents and near misses
- Ensuring all students and staff receive appropriate training
- Promoting and ensuring proper use of personal protective equipment
Student/Researcher/User: All users of laboratory facilities are responsible for:
- Following safety guidelines and procedures
- Participating in safety training, refreshers, and drills as required
- Properly disposing of hazardous materials and waste
- Immediately reporting unsafe conditions, incidents, and near misses to the lab supervisor or manager regardless of severity
- Wearing appropriate personal protective equipment as necessary
